The Los Angeles Police Department is under fire for a string of recent allegations of police brutality. Those criticisms have increased since Ezell Ford, a 25-year-old black man with mental illness, was gunned down Aug. 11 by Los Angeles police who claimed he reached for an officer’s gun.
The LAPD continues to be in the negative spotlight earlier this week when a Los Angeles Superior Court awarded two former officers more than $1 million collectively for being the victims of a retaliation scheme. They say department heads demoted them for reporting incidents of misconduct.
